Mother Boswick is a 121-year-old advice-giving widow from the tiny hamlet of Squinch Hollow, (which is nestled between Oregon, Texas, Nebraska, and New Hampshire, directly under the ozone hole), with 14 dead husbands and no filter.

She tells tales of local characters and dispenses questionable wisdom and unique astrological advice.

Joining Mother Boswick are special guests:

Oldman Boswick – an ancient exercise guru leading the audience through deep knee bends, windmills, and other fitness techniques best left to a previous century.

Melton Spritzer – Vaudeville legend on extended hiatus, returning to the stage with a barrage of one-liners, observations, and complaints from a bygone era.

Come for the gossip, stay because she’s hidden your shoes.

DIDN'T KNOW I NEEDED IT!

I didn’t know I needed it. I can honestly say I haven’t laughed this long and often in a long time.
It was just beyond fun. I want everyone to see the fun and learn from a performer who knows comedy.

I HAD A BLAST!

I had a blast from beginning to end. The crowd-work was seamless and went with the character and the show. I loved the hint of menace that Mother Boswick just barely kept out of site.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

David Magidson is a San Francisco–based performer and clown with an international career spanning theater, circus, film, and commercials. A former clown with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, he has created and toured original work across the U.S. and internationally, with performances ranging from traditional theater to immersive productions.

He is part of the long-running hit The Speakeasy as Bosley the Magnificent, has appeared as Oliver in A Night at the Palace, and as Professor Thaddeus Ravenswood in The Magic Cocktail Hour.

He has appeared in commercials for The Yellow Pages, BMW, Toyota, Nissan, The San Francisco Examiner, and Chase Bank, and in films including Dr. Dolittle and Milk. He has been profiled in New York Magazine and the San Francisco Chronicle.

Mother Boswick is the evolution of his clown; going from circus clown to stage clown to kids’ show clown, to a 121-year-old, 14-times-widowed mother of one son. Reaching a wide online audience, she has appeared at the Hollywood and Philadelphia Fringe Festivals, Sea Level Theatre in San Francisco, and The Palace Theatre in San Francisco.

ABOUT MOTHER BOSWICK

Prepare to be transported to the quirky town of Squinch Hollow, where twisted tales and unsolicited advice are served with a side of vintage vengeance.

Part Dame Edna, part Dr. Ruth, Mother Boswick is a 121-year-old widow with 14 dead husbands and a penchant for hiding her audience’s shoes.

She lives in the charmingly bizarre town of Squinch Hollow, a place where the weather is always perfect, curses come with casseroles, and the biggest event of the year is the Parade of Overeating. The show offers a hilarious and heartfelt look into her world, blending clowning, drag, and sharp-witted comedy.

David Magidson, a former Ringling Brothers Circus clown, has built a career on the fine line between heart and hilarity. His unique performing style, which he describes as “channeling” the character, has captivated audiences across the globe.
